CHRC Service Desk

Recently council had completed a Microsoft funded Secure Teamwork Assessment which reviewed councils on-premise and cloud technology environments to deliver insights and highlight opportunities to secure, standardise and optimise our IT environment.

The assessment was jointly arranged by Microsoft and one of councils trusted ICT partners Insync Technology who provide support and management services to our Microsoft Platforms including Office 365, Exchange (email server) and Skype for Business. Insync Technology’s involvement and willingness to partner in the assessment demonstrated accountability and transparency in having a review done on services they provide to council, and provided opportunity to review the value being returned in our vendor partnership over the last 5 years.

Outcomes of the assessment delivered extremely positive results with Microsoft recognising that CHRC were positioned within the top 2% of Microsoft customers across industry!

Results were grouped in to four categories being Collaboration Readiness, Infrastructure Enablement, Security Posture, and Client Experience. As can be seen in the graphic, the results across all categories were high with 2 categories scoring above 95% (talk about high achievers!). These results highlight that council is well positioned in terms of its devices and IT infrastructure to support the organisation, and ensure the security of its users and council information.

Whilst there were areas highlighted for improvement across the board, these were minor in nature and of low risk to the organisation, and most of which are already in progress to be completed in the near future. One such focus area is the transition from Skype for Business to Microsoft Teams and better utilisation of our Microsoft 365 applications. Works are already in the pipeline for both of these bodies of work and are due to be delivered later this year! Successful delivery of these bodies of work will see an uplift to the Collaboration Readiness category.
