“Passwords are like underwear: don’t let people see it, change it very often, and you shouldn’t share it with strangers” – Chris Piriillo
Now that I have your attention, the ICT Team is kick-starting this year’s Cyber Security campaign which will run over the next few months. This year there will be a number of components and this post serves to inform you of what to expect and keep an eye out for.
The purpose of running a Cyber Security campaign is to raise and reinforce the knowledge and awareness of staff around cyber threats and how you play a part in the line of defence. Believe it or not, YOU are our best and most important asset in the defence against cyber-attacks. With cyber attackers becoming smarter, we have an obligation to keep you informed and aware of your responsibilities.
This year we will be running the following as part of our campaign:
Cyber Alerts – 12 information posts covering different topics will be posted on the Vine between March and July
Drop-in Cyber Information Sessions – short workshop sessions led by cyber security experts from McGrathNicol will be conducted the weeks of 19th April and 7th June across the region
Cyber Awareness Month – a dedicated month with informational videos will be posted on the Vine each week of the Month of May
The information you will receive from this campaign will not only be relevant for work, there are lots of topics directly transferable to your personal lives and utilisation of technology that you can take home and share with your friends and family.
So keep an eye out on the Vine over the coming months!
